Siltaş Silica Sands Industry and Trade Corporation, which dates back to the 1960s, is the first established and leading silica sand producer in Turkey.
It started fabricated production in the 1970s and increased its capacity by renewing its technology in the 1980s.
Following the establishment of the first factory in Karakiraz, the second high-tech facility was put into operation in Kızılcaköy, Şile in order to meet the increasing demand. Operating on a total of 127,000 m2 open and 15,000 m2 closed area, Siltaş is the leader in the sector with its annual production capacity that pushes the limits.
Siltaş has 160 million tons of silica sand reserves in a licensed area of 8500 hectares. The company, which holds the legal right to use 75% of the silica sand reserves in the Şile basin, bases its production activities, which are carried out under the supervision of an expert team, on the principle of efficiency, diversity and continuity. It is the leading company in the sector with an annual production capacity of 950 thousand tons of wet sand, 800 thousand tons of sand drying capacity and 800 m³/h capacity treatment plant.
It is the unshakable fortress of the sector with its strong capital structure, inaccessible quality, the importance it attaches to customer satisfaction and its strong transportation fleet. It produces silica sand with the desired grain distribution for various sectors such as core and mold sand-resin coated silica sand for the casting sector, filter sand-filter gravel for the purification sector, skidding sand for the transportation sector, filling material for the construction sector and pipe filling sand for infrastructure works. Its products are shipped in wet bulk and dry bulk in packages and silobases in accordance with customer demands.
In 2008, Siltaş expanded its product range by focusing on different mining groups and started production in chrome and manganese fields.
Siltaş’s goal is to increase the country’s production capacity by establishing facilities in areas with new product groups, to provide employment, to open up to the world market by exporting and to become an international company in the mining sector.
